Pope Leo XIV has named four new auxiliary bishops for the Diocese of Rome, reinforcing pastoral leadership in his own see by elevating priests deeply rooted in parish ministry, the Vatican News service reported on 25 February 2026.
The four priests—Stefano Sparapani, Alessandro Zenobbi, Andrea Carlevale and Marco Valenti—were already serving as parish priests in Rome and have now been entrusted with additional responsibilities to assist the bishop of Rome in caring for the city’s faithful.
Stefano Sparapani, born in Rome on 24 July 1956, was ordained in 1991 and has served in parishes including Corviale and San Basilio. He has also been Spiritual Father at the Almo Collegio Capranica since 2015 and Episcopal Vicar for the North Sector since 2025. Alessandro Zenobbi, born 10 November 1969, was ordained in 1996 and has served as pastor of Santa Lucia and Episcopal Vicar for the West Sector.

Andrea Carlevale, born 8 April 1971, was ordained in 1998 and has served in various parish assignments, including as Parish Priest of San Giovanni Battista de Rossi since 2025. Marco Valenti, born 28 February 1961 in Cantalupo in Sabina, was ordained in 1986 and most recently served as Parish Priest of the Transfiguration of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
The new auxiliary bishops are expected to support the pope’s mission in shepherding the city’s clergy and laity in service, faith formation and evangelization.
