Following the ceasefire in Gaza, Pope Leo XIV instructed the Office of Papal Charities to send antibiotics to the sick children in the area. Nearly 5,000 doses of antibiotics have been sent for the benefit of children who had no access to medical treatment during the two years of conflict.
“We are putting into practice the words of the Apostolic Exhortation Dilexi te, dedicated to the poor,” said Cardinal Konrad Krajewski, Prefect of the Dicastery for the Service of Charity. He added that it was necessary to act and to pay attention to those in need. The Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem has already distributed the antibiotics to the sick children.

Meanwhile, Caritas Jerusalem delivered 10,000 cans of infant formula to Gaza in the days following the signing of a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, Vatican News reported. During the two-year war, hundreds of families had been left without access to clean water, medical care, or nutrition for their children. In southern Gaza, Caritas Jerusalem is also offering primary health care, psychosocial support, and emergency relief to displaced and affected families.
