Modi Speaks With Gulf Leaders, Calls for Peace Amid Rising Regional Tensions

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi held discussions with key Middle Eastern leaders on Monday as tensions continue to escalate across the Gulf region.

According to officials in New Delhi, Modi spoke with Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, as well as King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain and the King of Jordan, amid the ongoing regional conflict.

During the conversations, the Indian prime minister expressed concern over the deteriorating security situation in the Gulf and called for the earliest restoration of peace and stability in the region.

Modi also thanked the leaders for ensuring the safety and well-being of the large Indian diaspora living in their countries.

“India condemns the recent attacks on Saudi Arabia in violation of its sovereignty and territorial integrity,” Modi said, referring to the strikes that have taken place during the escalating conflict in the region.

The discussions come as tensions continue to rise following military confrontations involving Iran, Israel and the United States, which have led to attacks on several locations across the Middle East.

India has been closely monitoring developments due to its strong economic and energy ties with Gulf nations, as well as the presence of millions of Indian citizens working across the region.

New Delhi has consistently urged restraint from all sides while emphasising the importance of diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the situation.

Officials said India remains in contact with governments across the region to ensure the safety of its citizens and to support efforts aimed at restoring regional stability.
