Iran has launched a new wave of missile and drone strikes on U.S., Israeli, and Gulf Arab targets in the Persian Gulf, escalating a broader Middle East conflict after the reported death of top Iranian security official Ali Larijani in an Israeli airstrike. Iran’s Supreme National Security Council confirmed Larijani, a key figure in Tehran’s political and security apparatus, was killed alongside his son and aides. Iran has vowed “decisive” retaliation for his death.
Iranian forces struck military positions including in central Israel, killing at least two Israeli civilians in Tel Aviv’s Ramat Gan, while Gulf states including the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia reported intercepting missiles and drones aimed at U.S. bases and infrastructure.
The United States has responded with airstrikes on Iranian missile sites, particularly around the strategic Strait of Hormuz, disrupting shipping and contributing to rising oil prices.
The conflict, now in its third week, continues to draw global concern over further escalation and regional instability.
