Berlin | SG News Desk — Former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has accused Donald Trump’s administration of a “cover-up” regarding the release of documents linked to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, saying officials are “slow-walking” transparency efforts.
Speaking to the BBC at the World Forum in Berlin, Clinton demanded the full release of the files:
“Get the files out. They are slow-walking it.”
The White House rejected the claim, arguing that by releasing thousands of pages, the administration had “done more for the victims than Democrats ever have.”
Should Andrew Testify? Clinton Responds
When asked whether Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor should testify before Congress, Clinton replied:
“I think everybody should testify who is asked to testify.”
Appearing in the Epstein files is not evidence of wrongdoing, and Andrew has consistently denied all allegations.
Clintons to Testify Before Congress
The Clintons are scheduled to appear before the House Oversight Committee, with Bill Clinton testifying on 27 February and Hillary Clinton the day before.
A threatened contempt vote was dropped after both agreed to participate.
Clinton insisted the hearing should be public, not behind closed doors:
“We have nothing to hide… Sunlight is the best disinfectant.”
She argued the controversy is being used to distract from Trump:
“Look at this shiny object… I never met Epstein.”
Clinton said she met Ghislaine Maxwell only “a few occasions.”
Epstein Files: What’s Been Released So Far
Earlier this month, the US Department of Justice released millions of pages under the Epstein Files Transparency Act.
However, lawmakers — including Republican Rep. Thomas Massie — say the release is incomplete, urging the DoJ to publish internal memos about past charging decisions.
Epstein died in August 2019 while awaiting trial for sex-trafficking.
Trump Responds: “I Have Nothing to Hide”
Asked by the BBC aboard Air Force One, Trump dismissed Clinton’s comments:
“I’ve been exonerated… They hoped they’d find something, and they found the opposite.”
He claimed Democrats — including the Clintons — were being “pulled in” by investigators.
The DoJ has previously stated that certain allegations involving Trump were “untrue, unfounded and sensationalist,” submitted shortly before the 2020 election.
Growing Pressure on Andrew
US lawmakers and the family of Virginia Giuffre have renewed calls for Andrew to testify.
He settled with Giuffre in 2022 with no admission of liability.
Giuffre died by suicide in 2025.
