Four Jewish-community ambulances were set on fire early Monday in Golders Green, north London, in what police are treating as a suspected antisemitic hate crime.
The vehicles belonged to Hatzola Northwest, a volunteer emergency service supporting the Jewish community. Police said they were called to Highfield Road at 1:40 a.m., and fire crews with six engines and around 40 firefighters brought the blaze under control by 3:06 a.m.
Exploding gas cylinders shattered nearby windows, but no one was injured. Officers have launched an arson investigation and are reviewing CCTV and online footage to identify suspects.
The attack took place outside a synagogue car park. Health Secretary Wes Streeting called it “sickening,” while community groups condemned the act. Authorities emphasised that hate crimes will not be tolerated and urged anyone with information to come forward.
