In a deeply spiritual message for the upcoming World Day of Prayer for Vocations, Pope Leo XIV has invited the faithful—especially young people—to rediscover vocation as a personal encounter with God’s love, calling it “an immeasurable gift” for both the individual and the Church.
Released ahead of the 63rd World Day of Prayer for Vocations, to be observed on Sunday, April 26, 2026—also known as Good Shepherd Sunday—the Pope described the occasion as a moment of grace to reflect on the “interior discovery” of God’s call, which unfolds within the depths of the human heart.
Drawing on the image of Christ as the Good Shepherd from the Gospel of John, the Holy Father emphasized that Jesus lovingly calls each person by name, revealing that life finds its true beauty when lived in following Him. He encouraged young people in particular to listen attentively to this call, trusting that God’s plan leads to fulfillment and joy.

Pope Leo XIV also urged Christian communities to actively support and accompany those discerning their vocation, creating spaces where faith can grow and God’s voice can be heard. He highlighted that vocations—whether to priesthood, consecrated life, or lay service—are all essential expressions of the Church’s mission.
In a world often filled with noise and uncertainty, the Pope’s message stands as a gentle but powerful reminder: God continues to call, and those who respond with faith discover a path of beauty, purpose, and lasting hope in Christ.
