The Bible Society’s premises in Madagascar were looted and set on fire in late September. In a recent press release, the French Bible Alliance revealed that computer equipment was stolen and approximately 2,700 Bibles were burned.
The overall damage is estimated at around 100,000 euros. Twenty-two computers, three printers, a camera, a server, and a video projector were stolen. In addition, chairs, tables, and various supplies were also taken.

Following the robbery, the attackers set the building on fire, destroying around 2,700 Bibles. The scriptures were left charred and piled on the ground.
In the press release, the French Bible Alliance expressed their solidarity and support for the Bible Society during this extremely difficult time.The organization’s primary mission is “to make the Bible accessible to as many people as possible throughout the country.

On Thursday, September 25, a demonstration took place in Antananarivo, the capital of Madagascar, following a call by GenZ — a movement that emerged on social media. The protest was organized in response to the ongoing water and electricity outages and led to heightened tensions between the public and authorities.
Footage of police violence against demonstrators quickly spread across social media during the weeks of unrest. According to RFI, internet users shared disturbing images showing a man being beaten and dragged by multiple police officers, as well as a woman being pulled by her hair.
Thr High Constitutional Court then handed power to Colonel Michael Randrianirina on October 14.
