The annual Eucharistic Procession through Midtown Manhattan took place on Tuesday, October 14, presenting a profound witness of Catholic faith and tradition as clergy and lay faithful accompanied the Eucharistic Lord across the city.
The day’s events began at 3:00 pm with Eucharistic meditations led by His Eminence Cardinal Giorgio Marengo, the apostolic prefect of Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, alongside Fr. Ambrose Criste, a Norbertine from St. Michael’s Abbey. Actor Jonathan Roumie, best known for portraying Jesus in The Chosen, joined as a surprise guest, assisting in leading these meditations.
Attendees were also offered the opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
At 4:00 pm, the Holy Mass began with Cardinal Sean O’Malley, OFM Cap as the main celebrant. He was joined in concelebration by Auxiliary Bishop Joseph Espaillat of New York, Bishop John Oliver Barres of Rockville Centre, and Cardinal Marengo. According to ChurchPop reporting, the intercessory prayers during the Mass included a remembrance for Charlie Kirk, whose birthday and National Day of Remembrance fell on that date.
Following Mass, the Faithful processed through the streets of Midtown, publicly carrying the Blessed Sacrament, a visible proclamation of Christ’s presence in a city where over 70 % of the 8.4 million population are non-Catholic.
