More than 700 children from schools and parishes across Rome will pray a rosary for peace with Pope Leo XIV on October 1 at the Lourdes Grotto in the Vatican Gardens. The prayer initiative is part of the “One Million Children Praying the Rosary” campaign organized by the pontifical foundation, Aid to the Church in Need. Inspired by the message of Fatima, thousands of children from schools, communities, parishes and families around the world will be part of the campaign that runs from October 1 to 7.
According to ACN, the initiative to pray for peace takes on “special significance at a time when millions of people are facing war, violence, persecution, poverty, and uncertainty.” The invitation is not limited to children alone —parents, teachers, priests, religious, catechists, and families are encouraged to join them.
ACN has also stated that it is not necessary to pray the entire Rosary, “Even a single decade prayed with faith can become part of this global chain of prayer.” The initiative is organized in collaboration with the Shrine of Fátima, the Pope’s Worldwide Prayer Network, the World Apostolate of Fátima and World Rosary Day.
The “One Million Children Praying the Rosary” initiative began in Venezuela in 2005, inspired by the words of Saint Padre Pio of Pietrelcina, who said, “When 1 million children pray the rosary, the world will change.”
