WHITE HOUSE FAITH WINS SPARKS CATHOLIC ATTENTION

📅 September 19, 2026 👤 SG News 💬 0 Comments

250 ACTIONS SPAN 25 FAITH AREAS

The White House has highlighted 250 actions it describes as “victories” for people of faith, showcasing the Trump administration’s efforts to protect religious liberty while raising questions about its alignment with Catholic teaching, EWTN News reported. Published Sept. 17, the report covers 25 categories, including conscience rights, houses of worship, school choice, parental rights and the protection of unborn life.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY, CONSCIENCE RIGHTS HIGHLIGHTED

The administration says it has strengthened religious liberty, safeguarded places of worship and expanded educational choices for families. White House Faith Office Director Jenny Korn told EWTN News that President Trump placed the office in the West Wing to work directly on policies affecting religious institutions and believers in daily life.
Recent measures include Justice Department guidance directing federal agencies to protect religious liberty and changes allowing federally funded faith-based organisations greater freedom to include prayer and religious elements in their programs. The report also highlights conscience protections for health care workers who object to abortion, sterilisation, or assisted suicide. In addition, the Department of Health and Human Services withdrew earlier guidance that could have required pharmacists to dispense abortion medication against their religious beliefs.

IVF POLICY RAISES CATHOLIC CONCERN

However, EWTN News noted that some pro-life leaders have criticised the federal government’s approach to abortion pills, Planned Parenthood funding and in vitro fertilisation. The White House includes expanded access to IVF among its achievements, despite the Catholic Church’s opposition to the procedure.
Korn acknowledged disagreements over the fertility treatment and emphasised that Catholics remain involved in policy discussions. The list also notes that the Food and Drug Administration is reviewing mifepristone, a drug used in medication abortions. Meanwhile, several life-related policies remain under scrutiny as the broader faith agenda moves forward.
