Deacon Scott Borba, co-founder of e.l.f. Cosmetics and a former beauty industry executive will receive priestly ordination on May 23, 2026, in the Diocese of Fresno, California. The deacon, once known as an esthetician, actor, model, singer and author, left behind a multimillion-dollar career after responding to what he described as a lifelong call to the priesthood.
Reports stated that he spent more than 20 years in the health and beauty industry before entering the seminary at age 42. He later donated all of his wealth and business holdings to charity following his conversion. ChurchPOP, citing Angelus News, reported that Deacon Borba felt called to the priesthood at age 10 but embraced the vocation later in life.

In a 2019 interview with YourCentralValley.com, he said that God had blessed him with success, wealth and recognition. He later realised luxury and self-interest had consumed his life. He also admitted Hollywood culture had drawn him away from his spiritual life before he recognised that “we’re supposed to be living for Heaven.”
ChurchPOP further noted that Borba credited his family’s prayers and devotion to the Blessed Mother for guiding his return to the Church. Angelus News quoted him as saying he had “never been happier” and had found lasting joy in his vocation.
