An American Catholic teenager, Dominic Auricchio, has reportedly been cured of a large brain tumor following a vision of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
13 year old Dominic is a deeply devout eighth grader at Holy Trinity School in Westfield, New Jersey. According to the New York Post, Dominic began suffering from headaches in December 2022. An MRI revealed a large mass on his brain that would require surgery. He was put on medications, and the family began considering the pros and cons of surgical intervention. After a few months, in May 2023, Dominic experienced a vision of the Virgin Mary in his bedroom, who assured him everything would be okay. A CAT scan the following month baffled the doctors: the tumor had shrunk so small there was no need for any surgery.
Dominic told the New York Post that throughout the harrowing health scare, he remained steadfast in prayer. At 4 years old, Dominic had another supernatural experience — a dream in which God asked him to be a priest. He even wrote to Pope Francis when in fifth grade, asking for blessed items. Dominic was delighted when he received a military Bible, holy water, and a crucifix blessed by the pope himself.

Along with his two brothers, the teen serves as an altar boy at Saint Helen’s Church and has a compassionate heart for those with disabilities. They prioritize Sunday Holy Mass, even if it means missing their hockey practice. Dominic was this year’s winner of the Cardinal Joseph Tobin Essay and Video Contest, sponsored by the Archdiocese of Newark.
Dominic says he trusts God is guiding him step by step and expressed hope to answer his call one day. Despite his medical issues, he faithfully clings to God, saying, “God is always working in his own ways, even if something bad happens, it’s part of his plan.”
