Marking a historic milestone in the digital world, Ascension’s ‘The Bible in a Year’ podcast has surpassed 1 billion total downloads. Hosted by Fr. Mike Schmitz, the podcast was first launched in 2021. Within days, the podcast debuted at #1 across all categories on Apple Podcasts and hit the top spot again the following year.

A press release by Ascension quoted Fr. Mike: “We never anticipated the reach, the impact, or even just the sheer number of people who would say yes to reading Scripture every day. The Holy Spirit has been moving in ways no one could ever script.”

On February 20 this year, recognizing the global impact of Jeff Cavins’ ‘The Bible Timeline’ and ‘The Bible in a Year’ podcast, The Museum of the Bible awarded its prestigious Pillar Award for Narrative to Jeff Cavins and Fr. Mike Schmitz.

The podcast based on Jeff Cavins’ The Bible Timeline has helped millions understand the Bible in a clear and accessible way. It has been adapted into Spanish, Malayalam, Hungarian, and Slovak. Since its launch, the podcast has remained in the No 1 position in Religion and Spirituality shows, reaching nearly half a million listeners daily. The podcast has influenced the lives of thousands of people, inspiring them either to return to or enter the Catholic Church.
