On March 27, 2026, the EWTN Global Catholic Network marks the 10th anniversary of the death of Mother Angelica with a memorial Mass at St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome. The observance honours the Poor Clare nun who founded one of the world’s largest Catholic media apostolates.

Father Michael Baggot will lead the liturgical celebration at the basilica’s Choir Altar. Special programming throughout the day will include a remembrance Mass, rosary, and Stations of the Cross broadcast from the EWTN chapel, available globally via television and digital platforms.

Born Rita Antoinette Rizzo in 1923, Mother Angelica entered religious life in Ohio and later founded the Monastery of Our Lady of the Angels in Alabama. Despite early financial hardships, she launched EWTN in 1981 from a modest convent garage, relying on donations and faith.

Today, EWTN operates 11 television channels, radio networks, and digital services, reaching over 160 countries. Her entrepreneurial spirit, deep faith, and commitment to evangelisation continue to inspire Catholics worldwide, including new generations across Asia.
