Servant of God Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen will be beatified on September 24 this year in St. Louis, United States — the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints announced on March 25. Bishop Louis Tylka, Diocese of Peoria, said in a statement that the Mass for the Beatification of Archbishop Sheen will take place on September 24 at 2 pm Central time at The Dome at America’s Center in St. Louis.

The beatification Mass will be celebrated by Cardinal Luis Tagle, who has been nominated as the Papal Representative. Archbishop Sheen was born, ordained, and first served as a priest in the Diocese of Peoria. Bishop Tylka noted that through his preaching, teaching, and personal witness, Archbishop Sheen “brought the light of faith to millions,” drawing people to a deeper devotion to the Eucharist and to the Blessed Mother.

Archbishop Sheen was one of the most influential and innovative evangelists in the history of the church in America. He was known as “God’s microphone” since he preached the gospel through radio, print, and television. Archbishop Sheen’s beatification was initially scheduled for December 2019. However, without revealing any reasons, it was moved forward six years.
