A 14-year-old Christian girl, Eunice Obadiah, was held captive for 138 days in a forest camp in Rijana, Kaduna State. She was abducted on October 23, 2025, from Remau Village along with her mother. According to Truth Nigeria, armed Fulani militia took the pair at gunpoint. They held them in harsh conditions and released them after nearly five months in confinement.

Eunice remained chained at her wrists and feet throughout her captivity. The gunmen beat her daily using fists, boots, and gun butts. They did not allow her to stand without permission. They fed her only once a day and denied her basic sanitation. They forced her to witness executions and sexual violence against other captives. Each morning, they marched her to the Kaduna River under armed watch to wash their clothes.

Her mother, Martha, was said to have endured similar abuse. Attempts to pray were reportedly met with harsher punishment, as captors allegedly denied the existence of the Christian faith. At least 40 captives and over 30 armed men were said to be present in the camp, according to survivor accounts cited by Truth Nigeria.
Both victims are currently receiving treatment in a Kaduna hospital, where doctors have confirmed severe malnutrition. They cannot walk unaided or consume full meals, and authorities have not provided any government assistance. Hospital staff say their condition remains critical and recovery is ongoing.

According to the outlet, Rijana Forest lies along the Abuja–Kaduna highway corridor. Survivor testimonies have identified it as a site with multiple sub-camps used to detain abducted civilians. More than 50 survivor interviews have mapped at least 30 such camps, where kidnappers carried out killings and torture. Additionally, reports indicated that authorities have failed to confirm the camps’ existence and have ignored repeated inquiries, despite the forest’s proximity to military bases.
