In a significant step in defense of life, the Mexican state of Aguascalientes has become the first in the country to officially establish the “Day of the Unborn Child,” affirming the dignity of life from its earliest stage.
The measure was approved on March 19, 2026, by the local Congress following an initiative led by legislator Humberto Montero de Alba, with support from citizen groups. The declaration sets March 25 as a day dedicated to promoting public policies focused on maternal health and early childhood development.

According to the approved agreement, the initiative seeks to encourage preventive care and awareness through concrete actions such as promoting early prenatal check-ups, maternal nutrition, and shared responsibility within families. It also aims to provide scientifically grounded information and strengthen support systems for pregnant women.
Lawmakers emphasized that the declaration is not merely symbolic but a strategic effort aligned with the protection of human dignity and the development of life from conception. During the debate, voices in favor highlighted that every human life is unique and worthy of care, calling for compassion and accompaniment for mothers, especially those facing difficult circumstances.
For many Christians, this decision represents a powerful affirmation of the Gospel of life—reminding society that every child, born and unborn, is a precious gift entrusted by God, deserving love, protection, and hope.
