The Vatican has confirmed that Pope Leo XIV will undertake an apostolic journey to Spain from June 6 to June 12, 2026, marking a significant pastoral visit centered on faith, unity, and outreach. According to Church sources, the Holy Father will arrive in Madrid on the morning of Saturday, June 6, remaining in the capital until Tuesday, June 9. On Sunday, June 7, he will preside over a large public Mass coinciding with the Feast of Corpus Christi, expected to draw thousands of faithful.
On the afternoon of June 9, the Pope will travel to Barcelona. The following morning, June 10, he is scheduled to visit the historic Abbey of Montserrat, before taking part in an afternoon event at the Sagrada Familia. On Thursday, June 11, he will travel to Las Palmas, continuing his mission of pastoral presence.

The journey will conclude on Friday, June 12, in Tenerife, where another large open-air Mass will be celebrated as a farewell to the visit. Beyond these major Eucharistic celebrations, additional private meetings are expected, as is customary during papal journeys.
A possible visit to the island of El Hierro, marked by the ongoing migrant crisis, remains under consideration. Meanwhile, Spain’s Congress and Senate have extended invitations for the Pope to address the nation’s legislators during his stay in Madrid. This journey stands as a powerful witness of faith, calling the Church to unity, compassion, and renewed trust in God.
