The ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel has entered its third week, triggering escalating military strikes across the Gulf region and intensifying global concerns over energy security and regional stability.

Trump Pushes for Global Coalition

U.S. President Donald Trump called on allies and major global powers to help reopen the strategically critical Strait of Hormuz after Iran effectively shut down the vital oil transit route.

Speaking aboard Air Force One, Trump warned that the future of NATO could face serious consequences if member countries fail to contribute to securing the waterway.

The strait is one of the world’s most important oil corridors, carrying roughly a fifth of global crude shipments. Since Iran disrupted the route, global oil prices have surged by nearly 40–50%, forcing several countries to begin releasing strategic oil reserves to stabilize markets.

Trump is reportedly working to form an international coalition to escort oil tankers and restore safe passage through the region. However, allies such as Japan and Australia have indicated they currently have no plans to deploy naval vessels.

Drone Attacks and Gulf Security Incidents

Regional tensions intensified overnight as Saudi Arabia reported intercepting more than 60 drones targeting the country’s eastern region. According to the Saudi Defence Ministry, 61 drones were destroyed in multiple interception operations during the early hours of Monday.

Meanwhile, a missile strike in Abu Dhabi killed a Palestinian civilian after a vehicle was hit in the Al Bahia area, authorities confirmed.

In the United Arab Emirates, a drone-related incident near Dubai International Airport sparked a fuel tank fire, forcing authorities to temporarily suspend flights. Airport operations later began gradually resuming after safety checks.

The disruptions also affected regional aviation. An Emirates flight from Kochi carrying 325 passengers was forced to return to its departure airport after Dubai airspace restrictions were imposed.

Israeli Operations Expand

The Israel Defense Forces announced that it had begun “limited targeted ground operations” against Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon.

According to Israeli officials, the operations aim to neutralize militant infrastructure and strengthen forward defensive positions along Israel’s northern border.

Iran Hardens Wartime Position

Iranian authorities signaled a tougher internal stance amid the conflict. The country’s judiciary chief, Gholam Hossein Mohseni Ejei, urged courts to swiftly deliver verdicts against individuals accused of collaborating with Israel or the United States during wartime.

Global Fallout and Energy Concerns

The conflict has also triggered wider geopolitical and economic concerns. The head of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change warned that the crisis highlights the risks of global dependence on fossil fuels, urging governments to accelerate the transition toward renewable energy.

With attacks spreading across multiple Gulf states and oil markets already reacting sharply, analysts warn that the conflict could have major global economic consequences if the Strait of Hormuz remains blocked.

Sports Amid Conflict

Despite rising tensions, the national football team of Iran is still expected to participate in the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted by United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Officials from the Asian Football Confederation confirmed that, as of now, the team plans to compete despite security concerns raised by the U.S. administration.

Situation Remains Volatile

As diplomatic negotiations remain stalled, Trump said the United States has been in discussions with Iran but acknowledged that Tehran is currently “not ready for a deal.”

With drone strikes, missile attacks, and naval tensions continuing across the Gulf, the conflict shows little sign of easing in the immediate future.
