A British Royal Air Force base at Akrotiri in Cyprus was struck overnight in a suspected drone attack, according to British and Cypriot authorities.

Officials said an unmanned drone impacted part of the runway in the early hours, causing limited damage and no reported casualties. Residents living near the base were advised to take shelter as a precaution, and non-essential personnel and families are being temporarily relocated.

Cypriot sources said additional drones heading towards RAF Akrotiri were intercepted. Local airports, including Paphos, briefly issued precautionary alerts following radar detections.

The incident comes amid heightened regional tensions linked to the escalating confrontation involving Iran, the United States and Israel. While there are suggestions the drones may have been launched from Lebanon and could be linked to Tehran-backed groups, this has not been officially confirmed.

British officials said the base remains operational under increased security, with investigations ongoing to determine the origin and intent of the attack.
