The Archdiocese of Seoul is set to declare Korean priest Leo Bang Yu-ryong a Servant of God following the Vatican’s approval of his sainthood cause. Born in 1900, Father Bang faced Christian persecution under the Joseon dynasty and Japanese imperial rule. Ordained in 1930, he served as a parish priest and founded the Congregation of Sisters of the Blessed Korean Martyrs in 1946, as well as a congregation for priests in 1953, promoting the faith through Korean language and culture. The Archdiocese is also pursuing sainthood causes for Bishop Barthelemy Bruguiere and Cardinal Stephen Kim Sou-hwan.
